Can You Make Money in MLM? 1-2-3

Of course you can make money in MLM because if you couldn't there wouldn't be so many companies out there.

You can get into an MLM company with as little as $30 - $200. There is no question that almost anyone can afford to get started in their own MLM business with next to nothing.

There are many companies with products like: cosmetics, lotions, potions & pills to choose from. We have all at one point in time been pitched by one of our friends or family about some kind of product.

There is one problem. Before you can make any significant amount of profit, it will take a great deal of selling on your behalf. If the product costs $30 then most likely you'll only make a few dollars profit for each sale. Now let's do the math: 100 products at $30 times 100 sales at $5 profit: 100 x 5 = $500. Okay so maybe you made $500 but how long will it take to sell 100 products? Chances are anywhere from 1 month to 6 months.

Can you replace your income with $500 in 6 months? I highly doubt it. Unless you are happy with around $500 or $1000 extra income per year then MLM may not be the way to go.

Now let's talk about some of the many MLM companies that keep popping up each year.

They have better compensation plans. There is no doubt about that. You can get started in most of them with $30. Some of the compensation plans reward you with up to $10 for a sale.

Here are a few of the problems which you may face with these types of companies:

Duplication. Sure it was easy to fork out $30 to get started but how many sales can you make to truly come up with a significant income? Most likely you will have to buy a lead list and do a lot of cold calling. Sure, there are always top earners in any given company but they are most likely highly skilled in sales. If you are good salesman and you don't mind hammering the phone, then you can do well. If you are not a good salesman or don't like sales, then that's where you will have trouble.

Systems. These systems can sometimes be very low tech or un-duplicatable because of the low start up costs to do business.

Support: You can get a lot of support if you find the right sponsors but keep in mind that you will get what you pay for. $30 won't get you too far.

In a nutshell, yes you can make money but not very much of it unless you are a hard core salesman.

If you are still set on making money or being your own boss then there are a few options for you. Take a look at Direct Sales.

Top Tier Direct Sales:

Start up costs: Anywhere from $2,000 to $20,000.

Compensation Plan: Anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000.

Systems: Very hi-tech and high quality because of the higher start up costs. Very duplicatable.

Support: You most likely will get a lot more support in Direct Sales Models because of the higher compensation plan. Your sponsor will at least make $1,000 to $10,000 for bringing you into the business. The support will be much better. You get what you pay for.

Most Direct Sales Companies offer a lot of training to everyone by live training calls or recorded online training. You really don't need a sponsor to find success in direct sales but it will help you if there is someone to call or email with any support questions.

In direct sales, the marketer (you) will get paid before the company. If you make a sale today, you get paid today. You keep your portion of the funds and then send the rest to the company. These compensation plans are highly in favour of the marketer who after all is doing most of the work.

There are many opportunities out there for you to choose from. Before you even start looking for a direct sales opportunity, you should ask yourself some questions such as:

How much money do I want to make? This is very important because you really should know what your goal is before it is possible to attain it. It has to be something realistic to you. If you are making $30,000 per year and you say your goal is $1,000,000 per year, then that goal will be harder for you to reach because it is too much of a big stretch for your mind to believe.

If you are making $30K per year already, it may be wiser to make a goal of something like $50,000. That would be more believable.

What are you prepared to spend in capital to acquire this income goal?

There is nothing like something for nothing. Imagine walking in to Burger king and placing an order for a hamburger but when it is ready you tell the cashier that you want it for free. Do you think that they will just hand it over to you? No of course not. Then the same principle applies everywhere else in life.

If you are looking for something that requires no start up capital to make income then you are better off seeking the help wanted section of your local newspaper. Now there is the best place to get started for free. Do your self a favor and stay off line if you have this something for nothing mentality because it will only cause you grief in the long run.

Your interest or desire level

Once you understand that everything has a price then the next thing for you to do is to determine your interest level. How badly do you want to make a change in life? On a scale of 1 - 10, 10 meaning that you are ready for a change like yesterday, give yourself a rating. If you rate an 8 or higher then you can take this one step further. If you rate fewer than 8 then maybe you need to think a little bit more about what you really want.

If you are still determined to find the right direct sales opportunity, then go on out there and make it happen. Find a good company with a good product and hit the road running. There are many people who are boss free and successful out there.
