Marketing Tips for Real Estate Agents
Real estate marketing is all about building relationships. Most real estate transactions are a big deal
for the people involved, so they want to work with an agent they trust and that they know can get the job done.
In order to earn that trust, you must first build that relationship.
This does not necessarily mean your client has to literally know you. They can be referred to you by someone
else they trust, or there can even be a trust built by the reputation you have around town.
That said, the best way to go about marketing yourself is to network with people in your community and
demonstrate that you are skilled in real estate transactions and trustworthy.
Face-to-face business networking can go a long way - and it's free!
Get involved with organizations, activities and events in your local community (ie. the Chamber of Commerce). This is a great
way to introduce yourself to others and let them get to know your personality. The groups you get involved with
don't necessarily need to be real estate or business-related, as you never know where your next client will
come from.
Promote your expertise. You probably notice that many agents will advertise the sales they make. This
establishes a level of credibility and demonstrates their skills. If you are new to the field of real estate,
you could host free workshops for
homeowners sharing your expertise. Homeowners are usually interested in topics involving how to increase the
value of their home, financing strategies that will save them money how to increase their home's curb
appeal.
Some agents publish a monthly or quarterly newsletter that they mail out to their farm, or people who live
in the neighborhood in which they sell. Marketing postcards are another
effective selling tool. Setting up an email
newsletter can work and cost significantly less money. Giving away free valuable information or helpful
tips is shown to make recipients want to refer the favor.
The key is to let people know who you are, what you do and what the advantage is to working with you.
Be active in your community on a regular basis, and people won't forget about you. It may only take one person
or a few clients to generate lots of referrals for you, so focus on getting lots of exposure and building
quality relationships.
