Free Samples Marketing: Marketing with Free Samples

Everybody likes to get stuff for free, and when you give out free samples of your products - you can get the word out about how great your company is without having to give an uncomforatble sales pitch. But wait - how do you hand out all those free samples without losing all your profits?

First of all, get your free samples into the hands of your target market only. These are the people who are most likely to be interested in what you are selling. By doing this, you are not wasting your money giving free stuff to people who would never buy from you anyway. For instance, if you bake gourmet all-natural granola bars, most likely youll want to market to consumers who are health-oriented. Having samples available at natural grocery stores, local produce markets or for those participating in community running or bike races are some good ideas for reaching this market.

Secondly, let customers know where they can get more of your product - either a retail store or a website address. Hand out business cards, brochures, etc - just be sure the person can easily take it with him/her.

Thirdly, give a good reason for the person to buy, either immediately or in the future. A coupon or limited time discount will motivate interested prospects to buy - and you really don't have to do any selling. Get shoppers using your product or service sooner than later - you don't want them to forget about you. You can save money by creating your own coupons online, or you can hire a printing service to do the job.

Fourth, when people try your product, get their contact information. Most times, you'll find that an email address can be easier data to obtain because it's one piece of information. When people sample your products, inform them of coupons or other discounts you offer. They can be your prime clients. and if they want to know about upcoming specials - they should give you their email address. For a higher-value free gift, contact information is expected in exchange. This is a great way to automatically lead in to follow-up sales.

Fifth, use referrals and word-of-mouth advertising to promote your free samples. I people like what you offer, they will tell their friends so their friends can get free samples too. This strategy works best when you give away free stuff from a website or a static location.

Do you sell a service or product where you can't really give out free samples? Consider offering a free trial or offer a something that will get clients familiar with your business. For example, if you own a women's dress boutique, you might want to provide free fashion consultations or some sort of free workshop. You don't need to spend any money (just your time), but clients get the opportunity to meet you and see the benefits of doing business with you.

The marketplace is full of different products and services - many of which appear the same at first glanceHome Business Expert. Getting a prospect to try your goods first can sometimes be the selling point. They may decide to look no further because searching and comparing competitors' products is a lot of hard work. Free samples work at getting a prospect's attention - but also get them to like you at the same time.
