"Now this is business planning made easy!"

If you enjoy photography and want to start your own business, don't limit yourself to the basic photo studio. You have lots of options.

You can specialize in a particular photography niche, one which is fun for you and provides a needed service to others at the same time.

Some examples might be a wedding photography, pet photographer, or you could specialize in baby photos or take pictures of vehicles or real estate for sale, including aerial photos. What about event photos - like races or sporting events, or a photographer at a tourist attraction where people love getting their photos taken?

Taking photos may be a fun activity for you, but might be a chore to someone else - and they are happy to pay your for it. However, there is a business side to starting your own photography company - the side that includes the management, marketing and financials of the business. You want to make sure your business runs smoothly if you want it to succeed and be profitable. That's where your business plan comes into play.

A business plan contains 7 parts:

  • Executive Summary (including the company's objectives and mission)
  • Company Summary
  • Services
  • Market Analysis
  • Strategy and Implementation Summary (Including marketing and sales forecasting)
  • Management Summary
  • Financial Plan
If you're like most people, you've never written a business plan. Many don't know where to start, but with a business plan template to follow, you don't have to worry about that.

With the professional format of a business plan template, you don't have to worry that you are writing your plan incorrectly. You can follow the template like an outline, and have your business plan done before you know it. Efficiency is what smart business is all about, and you won't have to dwell on your business planning for weeks. Then, you can get on to more fun activities - like taking pictures....

When you've completed your business plan, you'll have a very good idea of start-up costs involved, equipment and supplies needed and marketing tasks with a timeline to follow to reach the specific goals that you've set out for yourself.

Also available are photography studio sample plans and sample pet photography business plans that let you see what other professional photographers have done. You can learn a lot from one of these plans

Another overlooked benefit to business planning is that they don't just help you organize and start your business, they actually help you run it - keeping you on track to meet important deadlines and goals. You can also visit the Microsoft website for free business plan templates for a basic business plan template.

Any successful business owner will tell you - "You need to start with a plan."
