About Home Business Center, Inc.
Back in 1997 I had a picture of the ideal life in my mind: work when I want,
where I want, and do something I love - all without a boss, of course. It was going to be wonderful
life.
Interestingly, I didn't know what I wanted to do, and I didn't have a plan. I didn't invest in education or
training. I didn't ask anyone for help. I wanted to launch a successful business on my own. So I did.
It took almost 10 years.
If it wasn't for my determination to never go on another job interview, I might never have succeeded.
If you want to know "How to Launch a Business in 10 Years", I can tell you, but it will cost you. 10 years.
My goal with this site is to share what I've learned so that future entrepreneurs can learn from my mistakes
and launch a successful business doing something they love - in much less time than I did.
- Make a Plan. It doesn't have to be super comprehensive and detailed - mainly goals
with a guideline to follow that will get you from point A to point B.
- Don't be Afraid to Get Help. Whether it be from a fellow entrepreneur, an education, a
business start-up guide or coaching - the time it will save you is what will keep you in business.
- Don't Quit. This is something that I actually did right. Someone told me once that if
you keep working at something and don't quit, you'll finally get so good at it that there's no way you
can't succeed. Heck, I believed it. I still do. This doesn't mean that you can't change your strategy -
just don't quit on your dream.
I'm still far from knowing everything about every type of home business - but over the years I have
connected with experts who specialize in a wide variety of home-based businesses. Then I include their
expertise on HomeBusinessCenter.com. Hey, if you want to find out how to start a Super Widget Business, you
want to learn from a successful Super Widget Business owner, right?
So when I'm not at my computer, you'll usually find me goofing off outside. I love the outdoors, and running
my own business gives me the freedom to do lots of fun stuff outside. However, I would have never guessed that
I'd enjoy my "work" so much that I'd sometimes trade outdoor time for office time.
Being an entrepreneur and starting your own business is not for everybody. I did not know how much I would
love it until after I started. You will know in your gut if it is right when you don't mind the sometimes long
hours, you secretly thrive on unexpected challenges and you can't wait to get up in the morning to go to
work.
To your success!
