That question does not have a simple answer.

The best business to start for one person may not be the same best business for another. If you really know how to cut hair, why would you open a landscaping company? You are more likely to excel and make more money opening a salon than you would mowing lawns. You would probably enjoy it more too.

Many new work-at-home seekers are so focused on the money that they don't see the whole picture when it comes to starting a business. They assume there is one "best business" for everyone.

In my opinion, you had better start a business that you enjoy, or you will have a heck of a time being successful at it. Launching a start-up involves long hours and lots of work. If you don't enjoy the process, you will give up long before your business reaches success - and you will miss out on the money anyway.

So How Do You Figure Out the Best Business to Start?

Take a look at the activities that you take part in when you're not working. What do you voluntarily spend your time doing when you can choose to do anything? Once you have narrowed down your focus to activities that you enjoy, widen your lens to see all of your different options.

For example, let's say you like to play guitar. Of course you could make money as a recording artist or teach guitar lessons, but your are not limited to those fields. Music is the key idea, and you would probably enjoy working with other people who also enjoy music.

Many entrepreneurs have started profitable blogs talking about their area of interest or expertise. You could also partner with a programmer and develop a piece of software that musicians could use. You could provide a service connecting bands with venues or start a website that helps musicians promote their albums and songs.Once you start thinking outside the box, you will see that there are lots of opportunities to make money.
